Dear Church Family,
Because I am not able to personally visit each of you, I am taking this opportunity instead to share with you about an important effort underway at Christ United Methodist Church. I hope and pray that in doing so each of you will sense God’s leading as we move forward together as a church family.
I believe that the ministries of our church are a blessing to both our church body and families outside our congregation. God has continued to bless us as our membership has grown over the years. Yet with this growth came challenges, not the least of which was space. Our congregation arose to meet this significant challenge, and constructed this marvelous new facility. This was a sizable undertaking of considerable cost, to build a building worthy of the work in which we share and in which we labor along with the Holy Spirit. It is very much to the credit of our church family that over 60% of this expense has already been paid, and we continue to pay on it even now. Yet as many of you are aware, the remaining debt has become a hindrance to the ongoing expansion of our ministry and mission. In order that we might once and for all be freed from the weight of this debt, we are engaging in a Capital Funds Campaign.
Mission Possible is the name chosen for this campaign. We believe that with God’s guidance and blessing, this effort will alleviate our entire debt burden. As part of the Mission Possible program, every household is asked to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial commitment (over and above your ongoing tithes and offerings) to be given over the next three years. We need to raise 9.2 million dollars in order to pay off our debt. So, as you can see, the Mission Possible Campaign is a vitally important step for the future of our church, and your own involvement will directly impact its success.
Watch your mailbox for an invitation to attend one of the Vision Gatherings. The purpose of these meetings is to share information with you, to answer any questions you may have, and to encourage you to make this a special matter in your own daily personal prayers. After you receive your invitation, a church volunteer will contact you to confirm your attendance.
When you are called, please say “yes.” Please know that your participation in a Vision Gathering is very important, and that no commitments will be requested or received at these meetings.
These are exciting days of decision in our church. Let us commit to seek and act in God’s will. To the glory of God, we will move ahead with faith.
